Dear Diary,

Pride.

It creeps in when you least expect it. And holds the door open for arrogance.

There are so many times when I look at my kids and pride sneaks in. Every time they do something cute.. Or funny.. Or smart.. Or kind. When I see their beautiful faces.. Or even more their beautiful hearts. I get proud. I did that, I think. They are mine, and I did that. I made them.

Only, I didn't. They are not beautiful or kind or smart because of me. But because of Him. There are so many people who are tested through their children. They did all the same things I've done. They are no different. And yet motherhood has challenged them.

So lower yourseld down, I remind myself constantly. It's not you. It's Him. Exhale out that pride, and inhale humility. Bow down your head, and never forget to give thanks to the One who gives, and the One who takes. Never forget who is in charge.

Your children are not a reflection of you. They are a reflection of the mercy of the One who created you.
